SOUTHEASTERN DIVISION OFFICERS - 2008-09
RON BAIR, a Past National Commander-In-Chief
of the Union Veterans Union, and was the driving force behind the revival of this proud
Heritage Order. He has held several posts over the years in the ORDER, and updated the
membership materials, wrote the Non-Profit
Charter, and incorporated the Organization.
BAIR was an active member of the Sons of
Union Veterans of the Civil War for several
years, and established the Gen.Thomas McKean
Camp No.3 (named after his ancestor), serving as it's first Commander, and organized the Dept. of Florida, SUVCW, and served as the first Dept. Commander. He receivd the National C-N-C MERIT AWARD recognizing his efforts. He had accomplished
what everal other men had failed to do over several years previously.
BAIR sees the UVU as being the advocate for the Union Veterans in gaining the respect and Honor they rightfully deserve,
sharing the truth about the Civil War and the
years that followed. Their actions and Valor
restored the Union. He has been a sought after speaker around the Country, and is a co-author of "The Union Response to the Confederate Book of Arguments" (with UVU members STEVE VonBima and BOB BUNDY) and previously wrote "SPEAKING OF THE CIVIL WAR"
a speakers guide to CW presentations.
He was included in "Who's Who", the International Dictionary of Biography, "Community Leaders of America", and "Who's Who in Health Care" but a few
of his recognition honors. An article in Civil War Times magazine called him a dedicated Civil War historian.
He was a co-chairman of "I Am An American
Day" holiday kn Flrida and created the Citizen Patriot Award, which Honors ordinary citizens whose public acts of Patriotism
inspire many.
He has been a "JEFFERSON AWARD" nominee twice and a Local Living Legend award in 2000.

TheUVU,Inc. was formed by members of the GAR in 1886. Although many of the charter UVU members were disatisfied with the actions of the GAR, they held membership in both Orders. The UVU was non-political, although they worked hard at encouraging their members to seek political offices.

Sandee Bair, Sr. Post Commander, Board Member
Sandee Bair is the current Commander of the Gen. U.S. Grant Command Post No.1, located in
the Southeast Division. The POST is quite active and known for their living history
programs, speakers bureau, and Memorial Day
participation. Sandee has been active with the "I AM AN AMERICAN DAY" program for about seven years and authored the program Mission Statement . She is a Charter Member of the UVU, Inc. and serves on the Executive Board.
